In Fall 2013 we met through Greek Life at the University of Minnesota. Our fraternity and sorority houses were paired up for the Homecoming competitions. We crossed paths several times during that week and during the semester at different events and parties and eventually became friends. Throughout college we both made failed attempts at expressing interest in each other. How was I supposed to know being encouraged to get a fake ID so I could go to Dinkytown with Caver and his friends was flirting? To be fair, me asking him to get Chipotle and play a few games of cribbage probably wasn’t much clearer. So we ended up just staying friends and kept in contact after graduation. Carver ended up getting his master’s in accounting and worked at Anoka County and another accounting firm. I worked for a year then moved down to Clemson South Carolina to attend graduate school. Even while working on my master’s I was able to make a few trips back to the Twin Cities and meet up with Carver during most visits. We were even in Nashville at the same time one memorial day weekend and met up. But it still seemed like we were just going to remain friends. June 2020 I had finished my master’s degree and had gotten a job back in the Twin Cities. Carver came over to visit one of the first weekends, and I decided I was going to tell him how I felt. I was so nervous about how he was going to react. When I was done saying what I wanted to say, I asked him if he felt the same way and would be interested in a relationship. Carver very nonchalantly responded yes of course like it was the most obvious thing in the world. Since then we’ve gone through and experienced quite a lot. We have done a lot of traveling going to places such as Bozeman, the Upper Penninsula, New Orleans, and Boston. Golf has become one of our favorite pastimes and has really grown on me. Carver has moved not once but twice for my job. First to Rapid City South Dakota and then to Chambersburg Pennsylvania. He has been an enormous help with my dog Sully who he has grown to absolutely love and adore. We’ve been very fortunate to have tons of support for our relationship from family and friends. One Saturday morning in June 2024 we decided to visit the Shenandoah Valley Museum in Winchester Virginia. My mom and aunt had recommended we go because of the walking trials and beautiful gardens there. We took a walk through a small forest, vineyards, and even past a pasture of cows. Carver pointed out a silo and suggested we go check it out. Inside the silo was a mobile of beautiful birds. Carver told me to look up while he spun the wheel. I looked up and watched the birds spin around and when I looked back down Carver was on one knee with a ring. I blacked out, but definitely gave him a hug and said yes! We are so excited to get married and celebrate with you all!
