Sarah started working at First Baptist Greenville in June of 2017. FBG is John’s home church. They met on Sarah’s first day of work. John attended college near the church and would come over in between classes and on lunch breaks. Those who were around can tell you how smitten John was with Sarah from the beginning. The two struck up a friendship. As hard as John tried, Sarah kept him in the “friend zone”. During Covid times, aka 2020, the two became even closer. Sarah knew John was her best guy friend. They would spend lots of time together. Fast forward to June 2021 and Sarah knew her feelings for John were much stronger than friendship. The two have been together since!

John and Sarah took a drive to the Blue Ridge Parkway. They planned to have a Fall day in the mountains and enjoy the leaves changing. Once on the parkway, they pulled over onto a lookout spot to take photos and just enjoy the beauty of the mountains. After a lovely stranger took their photos, John asked if the stranger would take a video. This puzzled Sarah but all was made clear a few seconds later. John got down on one knee and declared his love to Sarah and then asked, “Sarah Elizabeth Carter will you marry me?” Spoiler alert- she said yes!
