We're Getting Married

Saige and Carter’s story began during their second week of freshman year at Clemson University. They both lived in the same dorm—Saige on the 5th floor and Carter on the 4th. Saige’s childhood friend, Malia, lived across the hall from Carter, and since Saige had known Malia since elementary school, she was the familiar face Saige needed to feel a little less nervous starting college. Through hanging out with Malia, Saige got to know Carter, as their whole side of the hall was a tight-knit group of friends who seemed to do everything together. One day, during a casual conversation, Saige mentioned that she was struggling with calculus. Carter, ever the gentleman, jumped at the chance to help! He texted her a few days later, offering to tutor her, and invited her down to his dorm room. Saige, who didn’t know Carter very well yet, was a bit nervous about going to a guy’s dorm she barely knew. She was ready to suggest they go to the study rooms instead. But when she arrived at his door, it was propped open with a study space already set up inside. Carter, being the good guy he is, explained that the study rooms were packed and he just wanted to make sure Saige had a quiet place to get her homework done. For the next two months, they studied together in Carter’s dorm room, with the door always propped open (because apparently, Carter’s kindness extended to good manners, too). Way to go Rose Family!! As they spent more time together, their study sessions started turning into long talks, walks around campus, and late-night adventures. One night, after what was supposed to be a “quick study session,” Saige and Carter ended up staying up all night—talking, wandering around campus, and—let’s just say, hypothetically—sneaking into the football stadium (but for legal reasons, they didn’t break into the stadium. Or did they?). By the time the sun came up, they had not gone to bed, and the next day... well, let’s just say it was a struggle! Saige definitely didn’t feel like conquering any more calculus that morning. But as tired as they were, they both knew something special had begun. By October of 2018, Saige and Carter officially started dating, and the rest is history. They built a relationship based on laughs, love, and probably the most unlikely study sessions of all time. Saige may have gotten a “D” in calculus, but thanks to Carter’s tutoring, she found the perfect “A+” partner for life.
