Carson and Olivia met at Samford University through the Preministerial Scholars Program. On their interview day to get into the program (January 2019) Carson was ready to compete and claw his way to the scholarship but, as always, Olivia was the kindest person on the planet. Olivia introduced herself to Carson, and in that moment Carson saw the three things he loves about Olivia still to this day: her kindness to others, how she is the most beautiful girl in the world, and her heart for Christ. In the Fall of 2019, Olivia Instagram DMed Carson to ask him to her first sorority formal. Carson, as always, was steady, engaging, and ready to make the most of the dance, despite Olivia’s silly Instagram tactics and even sillier dance moves. They stayed friends over the next two years, growing closer through shared classes and friendships. During this time, Carson and Olivia began to fall for one another as their friendship deepened. Olivia got to experience more of Carson’s excitement for and devotion to people, his ability to ask the best questions and make any conversation feel easy, and his creativity and innovation from paper-writing to vlog-making. The way that Carson’s heart for Jesus was revealed in all of his actions and words is what made Carson so attractive to Olivia. Carson saw more of Olivia’s kindness, beauty, and heart for Christ with every day. And when she saw Carson sing the most committed car karaoke performance of All Too Well by Taylor Swift, Olivia knew she was captivated and altogether smitten. Finally, after some back and forth and some loving encouragement from their friends, Carson asked Olivia out on a date. Through their dates, they fell in love with each other and discovered qualities that made them want to spend the rest of their lives together. From Carson’s perfectly timed humor and Olivia’s goofy puns, to Carson’s adventuring spirit and Olivia’s thoughtful plans, to Carson’s advanced playlist-making skills and Olivia’s three-word feeling descriptions of the type of music she wants Carson to play, to they ways they walked through tougher parts of life together, they both knew they had found their best friend and favorite person. On October 1, 2022, Carson proposed and, you guessed it, Olivia said yes! They have been working hard, prayerfully planning the wedding and are so excited for their friends and family (that’s you!) to join in on the fun! Through it all, Christ has been faithful to sanctify and bring them together, shaping them to look more like Jesus in the process. Carson and Olivia hope to see you on June 10th to celebrate their love story, the faithfulness of God, and their union in the covenant of marriage.
