Our Encounter

IKEA 2005

Linell, a 24-year old Cash Lane Coordinator. CarsJanae, an 18-year old newly hired cashier. Both not knowing that their first encounter would end up leading to a life long commitment. Linell and CarsJanae first exchanged words over the phone in late October 2005 when CarsJane was to come in and sign her offer letter to begin her position at IKEA EPA as a cashier. Eager to begin a new chapter in life, CarsJanae went in for her orientation on October 25, 2005. As she and the other new hires were being given a tour of the store, a large, tall, dark and handsome man was standing at the time clock ready to begin his lunch. As their eyes met, a smile appeared on both of their faces. A quick acknowledgement was shared and they continued in opposite directions. Two days later, CarsJanae began her on-the-floor training; and who was to give her the training, Linell. Over the next few days, jokes were exchanged, comments made, and flirting transpired. Linell called CarsJanae in on October 31st to fill a shift. The store was completely empty by the time she arrived to work her shift. After sitting in traffic for 2 hours to get there, she was told to do small tasks to fill the time until she was off. CarsJanae expressed how tired and hungry she was and was met with Linell's comedic response and offer to come and lay at his house and he would watch her sleep. After they laughed and she quickly dismissed the offer, Linell asked to take her to get something to eat at Doc's restaurant (which is now a Metro PCS). He added the icing on the cake for her by ordering her fried chicken wings, french fries and a root beer, a match made in Heaven. They talked about everything from sports, to family, to comedy. Even threw in a couple of movie quotes. They left the restaurant and stood in the parking lot talking, left the parking lot and continued their conversation over the phone throughout her drive home and up until they fell asleep. They have been together ever since!
