Travel Note
Guests should plan to arrive by the afternoon of Friday, September 18th. Wedding festivities will take place Friday through Sunday. Block rooms are available through Sunday or Monday depending on whether you're staying at Fonte de' Medici or Castello Di Gabbiano. With that in mind, feel free to schedule a vacation around the weekend festivities as you wish!
Travel Note
All US citizens traveling to Italy will need a passport to enter. It is important to note that you cannot fly internationally if your passport expires within six months of your travel date. Please plan accordingly as it takes several weeks to renew a passport.
Flight
There are a number of airports in the area for you to choose from. No matter which option you go with, you'll want to rent a car for the weekend. Our recommendation is to fly into Rome's Leonardo Da Vinci International Airport (FCO) as it is typically the most cost effective and will have the most direct flights. This is an excellent option for anyone looking to spend time exploring Rome and the surrounding area before making the 3-4 hour scenic drive into Tuscany for the wedding weekend. For those who prefer to minimize driving, you can take a 30 minute train from FCO Airport into Rome switching trains to Florence (90 minutes) and rent a car from there. Florence Airport (FLR) is the shortest distance from the venue with only a 40 minute drive, but frequently requires a layover. Galileo Galilei Pisa International Airport (PSA) will likely also have a layover and is an hour and fifteen minutes from Castello Gabbiano. Flights are available now.
Rental Car
Unless you prefer to use a private car service, you'll need to rent a car for the weekend as there is no Uber and cabs are not readily available. This will also give you the ability to explore the area! For those who don't drive a standard, be sure to request an automatic as manuals are the norm in Italy. CAR SERVICE If you would prefer to arrange for a private chauffeur, please reach out to our wedding planner via WhatsApp to coordinate. We will provide you with her contact information upon request.
Hotel
We welcome all of our guests to stay at Fonte De' Medici, a short 10-15 minute drive from the wedding venue. Transportation will be provided from/to here the day of the wedding. Block reservations are for Friday, September 18th through Sunday, September 20th. We strongly recommend booking your stay no later than December 31, 2019; come January 1, the rate will expire and we cannot guarantee availability. With a limited number of hotels in the area and it being a popular wedding weekend, please be aware that rooms will book up quickly. HOW TO BOOK In order to take advantage of our block rate, be sure to use the link and code we emailed you when booking. If you would like to extend your stay, kindly reach out to the hotel directly. If traveling with children, do not include them in the booking. The hotel will charge per child (4 and over) at time of checkout. *Tip: There are multi-bedroom apartments available. If you would like to get a group together we encourage you to do so!
Hotel
As an alternative to Fonte de' Medici, Salvadonica Hotel is a 10-15 minute drive from the venue. Please note, guests will need to book independently via booking.com as there are no guaranteed block rooms. Transportation will not be provided from/to Salvadonica on the wedding day.
Travel Note
Transportation to/from the wedding will be available to those who stay at Fonte De' Medici. For those who choose to stay at a different property, please be mindful that there is no Uber or Lyft and cabs are not reliable options so you will likely need to drive yourself.
Travel Note
For those looking to enjoy some additional time in Europe before or after our wedding, we encourage you to do so! Some ideas if you need inspiration: * Fly into Rome (FCO) and spend a few days exploring the city before making the drive into Tuscany. Note: We suggest waiting until AFTER your stay in Rome to rent a car as it isn't the easiest city to drive around. * Fly into Florence; spend a few days there before making the 40-60 minute drive into Tuscany. * If you would like to spend some time at the beach, you may want to hop over to Sardinia or the Almafi Coast. Ideas for after the wedding: * Oktoberfest in Munich (taking place September 19 through October 4th) * Northern Italy : Florence, Lake Como or Venice * September is a beautiful time to visit Slovenia- Piran, Lake Bled, or kayaking the Soca River are excellent options * Paris and/or Normandy
