Cafe Shambala
This is one of our favorite places to eat on date nights... amazing Tibetan food (sort of a mix between Indian and Chinese) at great prices. Lots of vegetarian options.
Del Barrio Cafe
This is one of our favorite Mexican restaurants in Salt Lake. Everything on the menu is amazing. It's right down the street from Carrie's house, so we come here often. The owners and staff will make you feel like you've been friends for a long time.
La Casa Del Tamal
This is a new find for us, but it was absolutely delicious! Try their birria tacos and their tamales… to die for.
Saffron Valley - Avenues
This is one of our favorite Indian places. Carrie lived in India for a while and Teiste also has a lot of Indian connections from his childhood so we both love the cuisine. We reconnected a few years after our original first date through India as well.
Hale Centre Theatre
The Hale has Broadway-quality live musicals and straight plays. On one of our dates to a musical called Million Dollar Quartet, a cast member broke the fourth wall, pointed out Carrie in the audience, and had them shine a spotlight on her as she danced. We love the arts!
Abravanel Hall
Both of us love live music and have attended a lot of classical concerts together. You might enjoy catching The Utah Symphony while you are in town. They are fantastic!
Deer Valley Resort
Neither Teiste nor Carrie enjoy skiing, but Utah has world-class ski resorts. Carrie has performed a lot of at Deer Valley with her band and Teiste saw her for the first time (before our first date) at one of these concerts.
Park City Main Street Historic District
Both of us love Park City and we have spent many dates exploring the art galleries, eating at the restaurants, checking out the live music, and wandering around the shops and neighborhoods in this area. Come check out this historic mining town for a slice of Americana. The world-famous Sundance Film Festival will have just ended, so you won't have to battle the crowds.
Hatch Family Chocolates
One of our favorite wintertime treats is hot chocolate at Hatch Family Chocolates. They also have a huge assortment of other hand-dipped chocolates, ice creams, and more. On Friday nights, you can often catch some great live jazz guitar here.
Sweetaly Gelato
This might be more of a summertime indulgence, but we love the gelato at Sweetaly. It's the best we've had in Salt Lake. If you don't mind having a cold treat in winter, you should give them a try.
