Our paths crossed many times throughout our lives. Our best friends growing up were brother and sister, our childhood homes were just 3 miles apart, and we ran in the same social circles in high school (Mikey was a senior and I was a freshman 😉). We can think of so many moments where we would have been in the same room, just a few feet away from each other, and still didn’t really meet. Almost five years ago, Mikey spotted a beautiful girl while scrolling through his Facebook feed. An exchanging of likes lead to a flirtacious message. Finally, we met face to face and never looked back.
We spent the weekend of our four year anniversary at our best friend’s mountain home. We had three days and nights of exploring, hiking, and watching sun sets over the mountain. On the last night, I was talking to my mom for the fourth time that day and setting up the chess board. Mikey walked into the room as soon as I hung up the phone. “My friend at work asked me how I knew you were the one.” Mikey began to tell me how I am his best friend, he wants her to be everywhere with him because it hurts him to spend even a second without apart. The home we built together, the family we have with baby Roxie Cleopatra, everything that means so much to him he wanted to make permanent. Roxie came into the room with a bandana, holding a beautiful vintage ring that reminded Mikey of me and my Mommom. On top of a mountain, with just the three of us, Mikey asked the question I had been waiting four years to hear.
