We met at EIU in 2015: Lucas' Junior year & Carrie's Sophomore year. We started hanging out with the same group of friends and our friendship evolved from there. Not a weekend would go by without wandering the streets of Charleston with our best friends. Some of the best times of our lives were spent before we even began dating!

Our first date was at Buffalo Wild Wings on Valentine's Day! The best part of this story is the fact that Lucas was too scared to tell his mom that he was on a date! When asked who he was with there was a long list of people given to Mrs. Giron, yet only Carrie sat across the table. At least her name was mentioned though! And there was no turning back once Mrs. G knew about her!

We began dating on April 17, 2016! After a night of fun celebrating our friend Alicia's birthday, Lucas asked Carrie to be his girlfriend, 3 times! Since Lucas would have Sunday night phone calls home to his parents, he asked Carrie to be his girlfriend by saying he wanted to tell them he had a girlfriend on the next phone call. How sweet!

In January 2019, Lucas moved into Carrie's tiny one bedroom duplex. The place that tested our relationship more than ever before. Living together has been amazing, but living literally on top of one another was not so fun. We couldn't wait to upgrade to our Charleston apartment 6 months later!

While planning the second annual Giron Fam Halloween Party, we decided to include Carrie's family into the mix. Somehow, Carrie did not pick up on the real reason we were getting everyone into one place! Lucas and his mom planned the best scavenger hunt (a game that is not out of the ordinary for Mrs. G to put on) for during the day of our party. Carrie rushed through the hunt, because she was determined to win, without even knowing that she was meant to be the winner the whole time. At the final leg of the scavenger hunt, one partner had to be blindfolded and the other would spin them around. By the third spin Carrie realized what was happening. After taking the blindfold off Lucas was on one knee. We have no idea what Lucas said during this time, but Carrie pulled the ring out of the box, put it on herself, and of course said yes. Having our families with us was so special. We will never forget that incredible day and the magical feeling that followed it for weeks!

By March of 2022 we bought a dog and a house! So many big life events happened to us all at once and we realized quickly how our engagement kick started the rest of our lives. It took a year to find the house but it was well worth it. It took much less time to find MJ - the most impulsive decision of our lives. But we wouldn't have made either decision any other way.

Now our story comes to the present. We cannot imagine what is to come for us! We are so eager to become husband and wife and to eventually add more members to our little family. We hope you will join us on our special day and continue to watch our story unfold!
