Bootcamp Crush Turned Wife

Haley’s Story: It all started with a bootcamp at Tietze Park. I watched Carrie from across the parking lot while we worked out for a year before I friended her on Facebook AND Instagram (twice because she didn’t accept the first one). I remember the outfit she wore the first time I noticed her, I’ll call it endearing rather than creepy. I had almost given up after a workout where we were partnered together because she asked a million questions I had told her the answers to before. If she liked me she would have remembered, right? When COVID hit, I started going to Carrie’s virtual bootcamp at 5 AM, dedication I know. It was the only way to see her. I spent the next few months trying to come up with the perfect social media post to get her to reach out to me because an hour on zoom with 20 other people wasn’t working for me. The only response I got was a smooth “💯”. Eventually I worked up the nerve to message her and the rest is history. And by history I mean our first “date” I picked her up in her pajamas at 2AM and we sat at the park in the cold rain chatting all night. In true Haley and Carrie fashion, we officially started dating May 23 in the parking lot of a drive-in burger joint.

Carrie’s Story

Haley and I started attending the same boot camp workout class in the Summer of 2019. I remember the first time I saw her and her cute dog because I had my dog with me and it isn’t everyday you see someone as athletic as her. At first I wanted to compete with her, but it wasn’t long before I wanted to know everything about her. Luckily, one day the trainer introduced us and said we should be friends. That introduction gave me the “in” to start saying hi to her everyday she was there and ask her where she had been when she missed a few days. Fast forward about one year - we were partnered for a workout in March of 2020. We had made small talk up to this point so I knew a few things about Haley, but this was my chance to have a full hour to learn more. I asked her every question I could think of, including questions I already knew the answer to. I was pretty excited after that workout, I was hoping things would evolve in the next few weeks, but then quarantine hit and we were no longer meeting in person to workout. One morning a few weeks later Haley joined my 5 AM virtual workout. I was nervous when I saw her on the screen and I wanted to impress her so she would keep coming back. I guess I did something right because she did and I got to see her every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. By this point we followed each other on social media. I watched her stories all the time, waiting for something clever to come to mind so I could start a conversation. Many times I typed a message to her just to delete it. Then one day she posted about one of my workouts and I knew that was my chance. I meant to send her a 💪 but sent a 💯 instead. Nevertheless, a conversation started that just never stopped. After a few days I was itching to see her in person and we were inseparable from that point forward. Haley quickly became the person I told everything to, did everything with and was the best part of my day. Life is sure fun with her and there is no one else I’d rather have by my side.
