Since we first met in 2017, New Year's Eve has always held a special place in our hearts as it was the first time I got to meet Preston's family. Little did we know, this holiday would end up being the day he put a ring on my finger. When we arrived to Preston's brother, Kyle's house this past New Year's, I was busy doing what I do best, building a charcuterie board for the party. Preston was mingling with the guests and anxiously awaiting the right moment to pop the question. When it was time to play the annual pop the balloon game where the young kids put in fun party activities on notes, Preston asked me to go first. I was completely oblivious to the situation and struggled to get the balloon to pop for what felt like five minutes! After much determination and Preston's help, the balloon finally burst open with confetti and a little note that read, "Carrie Lee Starbuck, will you marry me?" When I turned around, Preston was already down on one knee and the whole party was holding their breath waiting for the answer. Once the shock wore off and I let Preston sweat it out a little, it was an easy, "YES!" New Years Eve at Kyle's just got a whole lot sweeter. We can't wait to finally say I do and celebrate with you all. See you in September!
