While we are not requiring guests to be vaccinated against COVID-19 to attend our wedding, we do highly encourage getting vaccinated and boosted to the full extent possible. We welcome the use of masks and encourage it during the ceremony. Our guest count is around half the capacity of the venue, which will allow guests ample space to enjoy themselves, outdoors and indoors. Birch has a large patio which will be outfitted with tables, chairs, and heaters, and weather permitting, we'll be using that space to dance and make toasts! Birch's great sound system will enable you to hear from anywhere in the venue. Regardless of vaccination of status, please ensure you feel healthy and well before deciding to attend. Please contact us if you have any questions.
An even newer date, same ol' wedding! Thank you for sticking with us through the changes. We are so grateful for all of you. First, we're excited to share that we're opting for a relaxed vibe with a COCKTAIL STYLE wedding! Plenty of food and seating will be available, but you'll be able to help yourself at your own pace between enjoying toasts, dances, activities, and more, vice having a plated dinner in an assigned seat. If you have any questions about this, please feel free to reach out. Second, to allow all wedding guests, including parents, a night of relaxation and uninhibited revelry, we respectfully ask that no young children outside of our immediate family attend the wedding. If you're non-local and would like help making arrangements, please feel free to reach out. Please check back closer to the wedding for more, and reach out if you have any questions about anything else!
From colleagues to friends to fiances!
After a month carpooling to work in Ryan's weird 3-door Hyundai Veloster rental car in Norfolk, Virginia, Michelle and Ryan went on their first date! After a month of quiet Blind Pilot morning tunes and jamming to The Fratellis after work, joking, chatting, and generally looking forward to their commute together everyday, they knew they'd found someone they'd connected with like never before. For their first date, they went wine tasting at Mermaid Winery and dined at the illustrious Grilled Cheese Bistro!
This was the day Ryan decided- this proposal was happening TODAY! His initial plan to propose when she got home from a work trip was just not working out. Ryan's more elaborate proposal attempts had already been thwarted by work-related conflicts twice. So, finally Ryan and Michelle cuddled up on the couch, and Ryan gave her a giant stack of pictures they had taken on their adventures together. After Michelle had happily reminisced on each one, Ryan gave Michelle one last photo- a picture of Ryan, with a ring, and the words, "Will You Marry Me?"
An even newer date, same ol' wedding! Thank you for sticking with us through the changes. It's been a crazy year, but we are truly so excited to celebrate with everyone. We hope that you're still excited to celebrate with us too!
