Many may say that our story is non traditional, but it was a perfect line of events that led to where we are now. Devoted to each other. We met in 2008, a quick introduction at a Mexican dance in Waukegan, Illinois. Maritza introduced us towards the end of the night , but nothing happened. No number exchanges, a simple "Hi, my name is..." Not soon after our introduction, we coincidently met at friend's house, where our introduction was further than a name basis but included a standard conversation of who we are. Shortly after, we went on a date, a stroll in Wal-Mart and to the movies where we saw "What Happens in Vegas". Romantic, we know! :) But that was the start of our "friendship". Although many thought otherwise by the way they would see us together and hanging out. At that time, we were on different pages of our lives, Alex was in a "I'm not ready to be in a relationship" phase and we all know, I was. Throughout our friendship we shared lots of laughter, vacations, family gatherings, late night outings, drunken moments but most of all appreciation of who we were as a person. This friendship was the beginning of our love story, one that comes with imperfections but perfect for US. On May 18th 2013, a birthday celebration was put together for Jimmy (Alex's brother) at a Cub's Rooftop in Chicago. This was an unforgettable day filled with lots of fun and liquor, of course. Family and friends were enjoying a beautiful hot Chicago day that included baseball. It was perfect! After the game, a group of us ended up at John Barley Corn in Wrigleyville where the party continued. Alex asked me to go have a shot with him at the bar, without having a slight clue of what was to happen. We became official, GIRLFRIEND and BOYFRIEND. Lets just say that we made it apparent to everyone of what had occurred. Yes, tears were included but not from Alex. It might of not been the "right way", but it was the perfect moment for us. A memory that is meaningful for US. Here we are 11 years later, parents to Max and Silvia, our pride and joy. Through the years we experienced beautiful moments, loss with heartache, and deep meaning of love. Although we never plan how our future and the direction it takes us, we wouldn't change it for the world. On May 13th, 2023, Alex proposed to me at my parent's house that involved Max and Silvia holding a sign that said "Will You Marry My Dad?" with pictures of Alex and I. It was an intimate setting surrounded by loved ones which made it that more perfect! As we plan for our next chapter of our story, marriage, we are excited to share our wedding day with family and friends close to us!! Cheers to US!
