For those flying in, Piedmont Triad International (GSO) in Greensboro and Charlotte Douglas (CLT) are your best options, both located about 1.5 to 2 hours from Sparta. While Charlotte is a slightly longer drive, it often offers more direct flights and rental car availability. We recommend comparing both airports to find the best schedule for your travel!

Directions to Winter Wood Farm
*From the center of Sparta where HWY 18 and HWY 21 intersect, take HWY 21 N for about 3 miles. *Bear right at Twin Oaks Store and Stay on HWY21 N toward Independence, Virginia for another 2.6 miles, then turn right on to Nile Rd. (look for the big Winter Wood Farm sign) *Follow Nile Rd for about 0.4 mi and bear right at the fork on to New Haven Rd. *Take New Haven Rd another 0.3 mi, then turn left on to Winter Wood Lane - this will be just past the small white farmhouse on the left and the log house on the right. (look for the small Winter Wood Farm sign) *Head up the hill and turn left into the barn driveway just after you come out of the woods. We caution you to beware of GPS directions! If your GPS directs you to take “Independence Road” from Sparta, you'll need to select an alternate route. Independence Rd is an old, rough unpaved road that goes through the mountain. It is a NCDOT maintained road, so it will appear on GPS as part of the “shortest route” to the farm. Please use our directions above.
