Wedding Update

Dear Friends and Family, A lot has happened in 2020. As you know, we rescheduled our March wedding for this upcoming September. Since we couldn't wait any longer to finally be married, we eloped on March 18th, 2020, our 9th anniversary. There are pictures from the ceremony on the "We Got Married!" tab. We were excited to be husband and wife, but still wanted to have a time to celebrate with all our friends and family. Unfortunately, that celebration won't be happening in 2020. We strongly feel that it is not safe or right to have a large gathering of people during the COVID-19 pandemic. While we would love to celebrate with you all, your safety is far more important. We have decided to cancel our wedding celebration. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to our Honeyfund or sent us a gift during this time. While we won't be going on the Spain honeymoon any time soon, we are keeping the Honeyfund open so that we can use the funds eventually. We also have the option to withdraw the funds as cash/gift cards, which we might use to furnish our first house in the future. If you would still like to contribute to the fund, our link is still on the "Registry" tab. We miss you all so much and hope to be able to see you soon. Stay safe. Love, Evan and Alyssa Carpenter

How We Met

From scout to spouse

We met while on the youth staff of the BSA 2010 Woodbadge course, where we became instant best friends. A few months later, we went on our first date where all good Long Island kids hang out...the mall. While totally trying to stay out of trouble, Alyssa and Evan ended up inside a Target. While in the pillow aisle, one of the pillows magically jumped (definitely wasn't thrown) out of Alyssa's hand and went over the aisle divider. Little did we know, that it ended up hitting a security guard who kindly escorted us away from the "sentient head rest" aisle for their own safety (definitely not for shenanigan related reasons). Later that evening, Evan asked Alyssa if she would "do [him] the pleasure of being his girlfriend" in true 2011-teenage fashion...through a text message.

For all the days along the way
