While they officially started dating after college in the Summer of 2017, their relationship dates back all the way to fourth grade. The Barber Family moved to Haddonfield and Bruce started at a new elementary school, Elizabeth Haddon Elementary. Carolynn was already attending Lizzy Haddon and first met Bruce as 'the new kid'. They grew up only a couple streets away in Haddonfield and always remained friendly throughout elementary, middle, and high school. While both away at college, a small fling emerged in the Spring of 2015, but quickly fizzled out with a rejection from Carolynn. Fast forward past college, and both were down the Jersey Shore in Beach Haven, NJ for 4th of July weekend. Carolynn was staying with friends for the weekend while Bruce was just across the street staying at his family shore house. A fateful 4th of July party brought the couple back together and Bruce asked Carolynn to come back down to Beach Haven the following weekend. This time Carolynn did not reject, but accepted the invitation, igniting their love story again. Carolynn and Bruce began to date in the Summer of 2017. After five years together, living through a pandemic in a small Philly apartment, adopting a rescue puppy, Bruce proposed while on vacation in the serene Catskills on August 11, 2022.
