Our first date was at Legal on the Mystic in Somerville, MA. We met online using the dating app Bumble. We had been talking for about a month and finally decided to meet up in person. Carolyn postponed the first date because she had homework, little did she know she had prince charming waiting for her! It was a fabulous first date full of laughs and that initial spark you feel when you just know you are talking to "the one." We instantly hit it off and the conversation felt like we could talk all night. Eventually, the date ended and Brian walked Carolyn to her car. He asked her for a second date and Carolyn said yes. Brian was so excited he replied, "really?!" Carolyn said "of course, I want to go on a second date with you!!" The megawatt smile that was now on Brian's face was all Carolyn could think about until their second date. She knew then he was a keeper.
One day while looking at apartments in Maine for the upcoming start of Carolyn's school year they decided to go to Acadia National Park. It was a dreary day and they still had to drive all the way back to Massachusetts afterward. Carolyn was a little skeptical about going so far out of the way, but decided Brian might have something up his sleeve so she let him decide the plans for the evening. Brian took Carolyn to Beal's Lobster Pier for dinner and he was as quiet as could be all dinner. She knew something was definitely up then since he seemed a little nervous. After dinner, he took her to the Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse. They climbed down the steps and rocks to a gorgeous spot right next to the lighthouse. Brian started to tell Carolyn his proposal speech, but she blurted out in real Carolyn fashion, "just say it already!" They shared a beautiful moment of elated joy and had some innocent by-standers take their picture. They knew they had a long drive home, but took a quick stop to get an ice cream ring selfie for Carolyn before driving the 5-hour drive back home as a newly engaged couple.
