Due to the continued uncertainties of the COVID-19 pandemic and capacity restrictions from our venue, we have made the decision to reduce the size of our wedding. Making this change to our plans was extremely difficult and disappointing for us and we are very sad that we can't celebrate with everyone we originally invited. For those we are unable to host at our event, we will be live streaming our ceremony on zoom. Please see the Schedule page of this site. We'd love to have you join us virtually on our special day! For those we're able to celebrate with in person, we've posted the COVID-19 precautions we'll be taking at our event on the FAQs page. We appreciate your understanding and support as we do everything we can to protect our loved ones' health and safety.
Carolyn and Billy met in September of 2015 while studying abroad together in London. During their year long friendship, they continued to grow closer and closer. After flirting with each other all summer and some meddling from their friends, Billy finally asked Carolyn out on their first date the following September. The two got drinks at one of their go-to Chicago bars featuring sticky floors and country music (a music genre neither of them enjoy). Despite Carolyn spilling an entire beer on herself, the date was a success. Billy couldn't even wait until the next day to ask when he could see her again. Both now admit that they had each other in the back of their minds ever since catching each others’ eyes in the customs line at Heathrow Airport on their very first day abroad. Travel has been a big part of their relationship as they’ve explored destinations around the country and world, but marriage will be their best adventure yet!
Billy had planned to propose to Carolyn on the trip they planned to Norway in May, 2020. When they had to cancel their travels due to COVID19, Billy knew that he couldn't wait any longer and asked Carolyn to go on a walk with him. Billy tried to make his spontaneous proposal as romantic as he could (it's hard when you had planned on a backdrop of a beautiful fjord). Carolyn certainly didn't make it easy for him - unaware of Billy's plans, she insisted that they visit the chickens at the neighborhood school's coop. Farm animals don't necessarily scream romance, so Billy steered them towards the lakefront and the local park which were both closed and blocked by police. Billy eventually picked a spot on a quaint Lakeview sidewalk under the privacy of some really charming scaffolding. Underneath the glow of some industrial construction string lights, he got down on one knee and popped the question. Carolyn tearfully said yes while a jogger cheered them on from six feet away. Who said romance in a pandemic isn't possible?
