Fall Quarter, November 20, 2017 at UC Riverside. Fourth-year Luke clocks in for another tutoring shift at the ARC, probably thinking about his Panda Express orange chicken. Second-year Carolyn signs up last-minute, free tutoring for her Econ 103 finals. “Tutoring for Carolyn Chang.” Enter: blonde guy, blue shirt. Carolyn pretends not to be starstruck. A couple weeks and two sessions a week later — Carolyn passes with a B+ (WOO). Fast forward to Spring Quarter 2018. Carolyn’s back at the ARC for Intermediate Accounting. Different tutor… until five days before the first midterm, when everyone is scrambling and he’s booked. So naturally, Carolyn finds Luke on Instagram and DMs him. He says yes. Carolyn comes back to tutoring, laughs at everything Luke says, and crushes the midterm. From then on, she shows up twice a week “with one question” and stays the whole hour. The group chat with Carolyn's girlies are thriving. Luke is still just eating Panda Express, unbothered. After a few tutoring weeks, an Accounting Society banquet where they mysteriously sit together, an ARC Study Jam, and one Blaze Pizza + movie date — Luke graduates and heads to PwC LA. Spring 2020. COVID hits. Luke posts on LinkedIn offering accounting advice. Carolyn, about to graduate and starting at PwC San Jose, books a “30-minute” call to “learn about accounting.” They talk for hours. The rest is history. On June 26, 2026, we don’t just get married, we celebrate 6 years together with all of you.
