Yes. We are asking all to wear a mask. If you do not want to wear a mask. Please do not come and that's completely your choice and we will not be offended. We have a lot of elders to protect, our daughter and all the people on the reservation at the Sundance just days following. If you have been in contact with others not wearing a mask and feel it could put a vulnerable population at risk we understand and respect your decision not to attend and we thank you for wanting to keep us safe. Please do not attend if you have any signs or symptoms of Co-Vid 19 or have been in contact with anyone who could have it or does have it.
YES and we are fully vaccinated. We are trying our best to take precautions by asking all guests to wear masks when not eating or drinking. We have been asked by our elders to respect this wearing of masks protocol and some of these elders will be in attendance. If you have been in contact with others not wearing a mask or you feel it could be unsafe to attend based on the contact you have had with people recently please stay home and know we understand and appreciate your thoughtfulness.
Vaccines are required to get into Sundance and they will be checking vaccine cards at the security gate. Please do not come to Sundance without your vaccine card it is our duty to protect the people of the Oglala Lakota Nation a very vulnerable population. We are asking that everyone wear a mask at the wedding and also at the Sundance.
Tree Day, Wed 8/11 Sundance, Thur 8/12 - Sun 8/15 *If you have an invitation to attend, Star or Quentin will get with you about the protocols please contact us. Unless of course you are one of the usual Sundance people then you already know the protocols and everything so no worries. :) We have a few new people to the Sundance in SD this year.
Please wear ribbon skirts, long skirts or dresses for women and ribbon shirt for men or simple casual, cool clothing as it could be hot. It is fine to wear jeans. You do not have to wear a dress or skirt it is simply traditional and a suggestion based on customs as it is a traditional ceremony. For men tradition is a ribbon shirt or a nice shirt and pants or shorts. Please bring folding camp chairs and blanket, cooler with snacks/lunch and cold drinks. We will serve cake and cookies and probably water but bring your water bottle in case.
Yes we will be having a special one the night before the wedding for those vaccinated and also several after for purification prior to Sundance and you must be vaccinated and show proof to attend. These protocols have been set by Native Healing Program.
No we don't sorry. We have way more than we need already. We love you though and we appreciate your time and support. The most important thing is for us all to be together.
