Caroline's first memory of David is him explaining to her that he wrote a hair article about how to use a hairdryer (it wasn't just a hair article, but that's all she remembers) at Sunset Lake Camp during a staff party. David's first memory occurred at summer camp as well, and it involved getting milkshakes (before he was vegan) with Hope & Nathan at Wally's Drive-In nearby. Almost a year later, Caroline had David over for a taste of southern fried okra (frozen) in May of 2018. We talked about life, school, and Gilmore Girls while the chair David was sitting on broke. We both started crushing a little after that. Getting our act together, we officially started dating in February of 2019. The rest involved some years of long-distance, falling in love, moving to Bend, teaching David to ski (it was a non-negotiable), coffee shop hoppin', and adopting two (crazy but cute) cats together.
Caroline told David to propose by June, so she wasn't shocked when he proposed the last weekend in May. Caroline even painted her nails in the car early on during the proposal day. The proposal happened at Riley Ranch Nature Reserve in Bend, and David had Macca & Alex distract and bring Caroline while he was setting up with Randy & Chantel. Caroline loved looking at David during her long walk onto the deck that was set up for the proposal. When she arrived to where David was standing, he nervously asked, "Is this okay?" while happy tears of joy were already flowing from Caroline. David shared with Caroline that he loved their life together and wanted to keep doing it forever. Caroline said an easy yes, and we both enjoyed celebrating with close friends and family that evening.
