The Wedding Website of Caroline Koenig and Zach Geffner
Flight options, hotels, travel recommendations for our out-of-towners! We are so excited to get married in Caroline's home region, Alsace Lorraine. Specifically, at Chateau R Le Petit Wetto (https://g.co/kgs/xMseMDK), in a small village outside of Colmar called Wettolsheim. This region located in Northeastern France is rich in history, culture, and traditions. FLIGHTS: In terms of flights, although you have multiple airport options to get to Wettolsheim/ Colmar (depending on where you decide to stay the night), we recommend the below three options (1) flying in to Paris, (2) flying in to Zurich, or (3) flying in to Basel. HOTELS: You'll find below 4 hotel options in Colmar, a beautiful city just outside Wettolsheim. 2 are by the train station (Grand Hotel Bristol and Colmar Hotel) and the other 2 are in the downtown area which is 10-15 minute walk from the train station (Hotel Le Marechal and Le Colombier). We will be providing transportation to and from the venue for these hotels.

Flight

Fly to Paris (CDG)

If you decide to fly in to Paris, you can either rent a car and drive to Wettolsheim/ Colmar (about 5-6 hour drive) or take a first train from the airport to Strasbourg and then a second train from Strasbourg to Colmar. Both driving or taking the train are very easy - all depends on whether you want to be able to make stops along the way! Note that trains are not available yet for July 2025 but we will update this page to let you know once they are. You can book your train ticket directly on the SNCF website. To do so: 1) Access the SNCF website at https://www.sncf-connect.com/app/en-en/home/search/od 2) Type "Paris Roissy Charles de Gaulle Airport" as the departure and "Colmar (Grand Est)" as the destination. 3) Click "Departure: Now" in the top right to select the appropriate travel date. Note that most flights are night flights and arrive in Paris the day after you leave the US. 3) Select the trains that fit your schedule and proceed to check out. Currently (subject to change) depending on the day, there are trains that leave the airport at 9:01 AM, 11:22 AM, 2:59 PM, 5:29 PM, and 6:53 PM. Note that Strasbourg is a beautiful city (also Caroline's hometown) worthwhile stopping a couple days to explore. Please scroll down the Things to Do in Strasbourg section for a few ideas if you do plan to spend a couple days in Strasbourg.

Flight

Fly to Zurich (ZRH)

From Zurich airport, you can either rent a car (preferred) or take two or three trains to Colmar. Depending on when you land you may be able to catch a first train from the airport to Basel and then a second train to Colmar. If you are not able to catch a train that goes directly from the airport to Basel, you will need to take a train (or taxi) from the airport to downtown Zurich, then a train from downtown Zurich to Basel, and then a third train from Basel to Colmar. Note that trains are not available yet for July 2025 but we will update this page to let you know once they are. You can book your train ticket directly on the Swiss Federal Railways website. To do so: 1) Access the website at https://www.sbb.ch/en 2) Type "Zürich Flughafen" as the departure and "Colmar" as the destination. 3) Click the calendar icon to select the appropriate travel date and type in your departure time. Note that most flights are night flights and arrive in Zurich the day after you leave the US. 3) Select the trains that fit your schedule and proceed to check out. Currently (subject to change) depending on the day, there are trains about every 30 minutes. If you decide to fly in to Zurich, we recommend you drive as the drive is easy and not too long (1-2 hours) and will avoid having to take multiple trains.

Flight

Fly to Basel (BSL)

From Basel airport, you can either rent a car or taxi to Wettolsheim/ Colmar (about 30 minutes - 1 hour drive), take a bus to Colmar, or take a bus (or taxi) to downtown Basel and then a train to Colmar. Note that buses and trains are not available yet for July 2025 but we will update this page to let you know once they are. If you want to take the bus: 1) Access the website at https://shop.flixbus.com/?utm_source=googletraveltransport&utm_medium=gmaps_gtransport&utm_campaign=googletraveltransport&utm_content=com.flixbus 2) Type "Basel Euroairport" as the departure and "Colmar" as the destination. 3) Update the departure date as needed. Note that most flights are night flights and arrive the day after you leave the US. 3) Select the bus that fits your schedule and proceed to check out. Currently (subject to change), there is only one bus per day which leaves at 11:30 PM. You can book your train ticket directly on the Swiss Federal Railways website (if you decide to take the bus to the Basel train station) or on the SNCF website (if you decide to taxi to the train station). It's about a 15 minute drive from the airport to the Basel train station. Currently (subject to change) depending on the day, there are buses and trains about every 30 minutes. If you are taking the bus to the Basel train station: 1) Access the website at https://www.sbb.ch/en 2) Type "Basel EuroAirport, Ankunft" as the departure and "Colmar" as the destination. 3) Click the calendar icon to select the appropriate travel date. If you are taking a taxi to the Basel train station: 1) Access the SNCF website at https://www.sncf-connect.com/app/en-en/home/search/od 2) Type "Basel SBB" as the departure and "Colmar (Grand Est)" as the destination. Set the departure date and traveler information. If you decide to fly in to Basel, we recommend you drive (or taxi) as the drive is easy and not too long (about 30 minutes - 1 hour) and will avoid having to coordinate buses and/ or trains.
