We’re counting down the days until we get to celebrate this incredible moment surrounded by the people who mean the most to us. This site has everything you’ll need to know about our big day, from event details and FAQs to RSVPs and our registry (Amazon and Zola). Thank you for being part of our journey and for sharing in the joy of this next chapter. We can’t wait to celebrate with you!
How it started (Caroline's perspective): Trent and I met in the summer of 2019 at our job as lifeguards at the local pool. I remember the day that I first heard his name and found it odd that I had never met him before because we were already so far into the season. It wasn't until a few weeks later that we talked for the first time. He had asked me how school was going and at the time I thought he was teasing me because I had gone back to school and he hadn't, but he was actually just being nice and making conversation. I then threw an inflatable tube over his head one night while we were cleaning up to go home and our friendship took off from there. Trent would drive me home almost every time we had a shift together, but once we got to my house we would sit in the drive way talking for hours because neither of use wanted to go home. We went on our first official date shortly after that, which ended up being a movie. One date led to many and Trent eventually started to come to my volleyball games. It was at one of those games that I asked him to be my homecoming date. That same night, I asked Trent to be my boyfriend, and we haven’t left each other’s side since. It has now been over 6 years since that date to homecoming, and with the help of our close friends, on Valentines Day of 2025 Trent asked me to be his wife and I enthusiastically said yes. The proposal (Trent's perspective): I knew that I wanted to propose to Caroline for a long time, and finally had the money to do so in February of 2025. I knew that I had to propose before I was ordered to move to Pensacola at the end of February, and it worked out perfectly that I finally had the ring two days before Valentines Day. I had the perfect excuse for Caroline to wear something nice, since I was taking her to dinner, and going ice skating afterward and with some coordinating with my former roommate, and now Groomsman, Kasey, I had a plan. After dinner, Caroline and I drove back to Oxford, Ohio, only to get a phone call from a drunk-as-a-skunk Kasey (as far as Caroline knew) to pick him and his wife up from a bar. When we arrived, Kasey was adamant that he didn't want go home yet, and wanted to walk around the Miami University Campus one last time. He drunkenly led the way right to the Upham Arch, in the middle of campus. We stood around for a minute, and walked underneath, and Caroline asked if we could come back at midnight to kiss under the arch, (a long-standing Miami tradition) to which I responded, "Why wait until midnight?" Caroline turned to find me on one knee behind her right underneath the arch, to which I then asked her to marry me. After a few minutes of crying, she was finally able to get out a "yes," to which she then realized that Kasey and his wife were taking pictures on their phone, and were now magically sober. (And also crying) While I wish I was able to get better pictures than from an iPhone, I also realize that I don't really need them, because I will never forget one of the happiest and proudest moments of my life. After we had gotten some pictures taken, and the tears had dried, Caroline then asked if we could still go ice skating, to show off her new ring, to which I also said yes. A little over a year later, I have never been more sure that Caroline is the person for me, and I cannot wait for the day she will be my wife.
