Caroline and Ted met in spring 2023 in DC, initially connecting over their shared home state (Massachusetts) and shared past sport (rowing). They even realized they'd been at some of the same rowing races in high school! Ted quickly won Caroline over by taking her to events at the White House, where he then worked, and Caroline helped him make his new city of DC home. In the years that followed, they have been all over the world - traveling together to twenty states, five countries, and two continents - and made a home together in Kalorama with their cat Lucy. When planning to propose, Ted - knowing how much Caroline loves the snow - ditched his original plans and proposed on a walk during a snowy day in DC. The day was complete with a celebration at Caroline's parents' house and fittingly, a win by the Patriots later in the day!
