Flight
JFK Airport
NYC has several airports, though JFK is the most accessible when traveling to Montauk. From JFK you can either: 1. Take the Airtrain to Jamaica and switch to the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR). From there, take the train to Montauk 2. Take the Jitney (luxury coach bus) that goes to Montauk. The jitney stop is about 20 minutes from JFK. Jitney reservations in advanced are required. 3. Drive/uber (2-3 hours depending on traffic)
Flight
LGA Airport
Laguardia is another airport in NYC. It's about a 2-3 hour drive to Montauk depending on traffic. We recommend JFK over LGA.
Train
Long Island Rail Road
The LIRR is a great option to avoid traffic when traveling to Montauk. Trains leave from Penn Station in NYC. With the exception of one Friday afternoon train, all trains leaving from Penn Station will require a transfer at Jamaica Station to continue on to Montauk
Rental Car
Hampton Jitney / Ambassador
There are regular Jitney / Ambassador buses leaving from NYC to Montauk. Reservations are required in advance.
Travel Note
Travel from CT/MA - New London to Orient Point Ferry
New London Ferry - If traveling from Central Connecticut or Massachusetts, the New London to Orient Point car ferry is a convenient way to get to Long Island (be sure to book a ticker in advance!). The car ferry runs hourly and takes ~80 minutes to cross. The car ride from Orient Point to Montauk is just under 2 hours.
