We met at the Studio Paris nightclub in the River North neighborhood of downtown Chicago. It was the first (and last) time either of us were ever there. He was with his buddies celebrating a promotion, I was out on the town with some girlfriends. Through a very happenstance-type scenario, we ended up at the same table. He was sitting against the wall and I didn't feel like getting in the crowd, so I introduced myself. Our first date was a few weeks later, and the rest is history!
After meeting little Swedish Fish at an Anti-Cruelty Society open house, we knew we needed to bring her home. Our family grew to three on November 9, 2019 and we brought Penny, only 4 lbs and 8 weeks old at the time, to our home in Lakeview. She brings more joy to our lives than we ever thought possible. Also, more squeaky toys.
2020 didn't have very many bright spots, but this was definitely one of them. After being quarantined to our house for 9 months, we were (obviously) closer than ever. It was a fairly warm day for Thanksgiving weekend in Chicago, so Drew suggested going for a walk by the lake with Penny. We walked our usual route through the park until we got to a lookout point with a beautiful view of the lake and the skyline. He got down on one knee with the ring in one hand and Penny in the other, and asked "Will you marry us?" Duh!
