Nate and Caroline met when Caroline asked a friend for a ride to a Young Professional Retreat through First Presbyterian Church. Caroline's friend was riding with Nate that afternoon, and said Caroline could join them. Upon seeing Nate, Caroline knew it was vital for her to end up in the front seat. After a couple of hours in the car, a great weekend in the mountains of Asheville, and few more times hanging out, Nate asked Caroline out on their first date!

Nate proposed on April 7th, 2022. He took Caroline back to the exact spot where he asked her out on their first date. He had made plans to take Caroline to dinner on Main Street to celebrate one year of dating. Nathan, however, had to figure out how to get Caroline to the church, which was a few too many blocks away from the restaurant. He decided to ask Caroline if she could meet him at his church office so that he could complete some more graduate school work. When they passed the front of the church, Nate asked Caroline to walk up the front steps with him. When they were at the top of the steps, he held her hands and told her that he had been thinking about this moment for a long time. He then got down on one knee and asked Caroline to marry him. Caroline (of course) said yes!
