Are there other places to stay?
Answer
Yes. There are three other resorts within Mayakoba as well as several places along Riviera Maya and in Playa del Carmen which is a short ten minute drive from Mayakoba. We will have all of our guests names on the list at the Mayakoba gate so that all guests can come and go into Mayakoba as they please. For safety, accessibility, and cost savings in transportation, we do recommend that you stay within the gated community of Mayakoba but it is certainly not a requirement.

How do we get around Mayakoba?
Answer
All transportation within the Mayakoba community is complimentary. You can navigate around Mayakoba by walking, bicycle, golf cart or boat. If you do decide to stay at another resort within Mayakoba, you can go to the front desk and ask for a shuttle to Banyan Tree for the wedding events. We recommend taking advantage of the complimentary transportation and exploring all of the wonders that Mayakoba has to offer!

Is it safe to drink the water?
Answer
Do NOT drink any water from the sink or shower. However, all drinks that are served on the property are safe (water served at restaurants, ice in cocktails, etc is all safe). Do not accept drinks from vendors that do not work at one of the resorts within Mayakoba (bring your own water bottles on excursions). The rooms will have plenty of complimentary bottled water so you should not have any problem. However, if you do happen to get sick we will have medicine on hand.

What is the closet large city?
Answer
Mayakoba is 10 minutes from Playa Del Carmen. The resort should have everything you need and 35 minutes from the Cancun Airport. Other nearby cities that you could explore before or after the wedding weekend include, Akumal (1.5 hours from Mayakoba) and Tulum (2 hrs from Mayakoba).
