Located on historic Gay Street, about one block north of the Tennessee Theatre in the heart of Knoxville, Tennessee. The Brewery has a rich history, told not only by its well-worn hardwood floors, but through its pictures of Knoxville gone by that dress the walls.
Great beer, food, and outdoor igloos. I loved this restaurant in college. They also were a part of my senior design project. We designed a system to take effluent wastewater and clean it farther; and we were then going to take that clean water and brew it into beer with the help of Balter Beerworks. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic we were not able to complete the project, but they were so kind to support us up until the point they no longer could.
Really cool place, Mathew and I have gone before. If I remember correctly, men are asked to wear collared shirts. Hidden inside the historic Kern Building, behind The Oliver Hotel lobby, is Knoxville’s one and only speakeasy, The Peter Kern Library. Once a well-kept secret, the bar is now a beloved institution. The dark wood, fireplace, rows of books, and cocktails named after literary characters create a warm and cozy atmosphere where time seems to stop.
Pretentious Beer Co is an experimental brewery located in the heart of the Old City of Knoxville, TN. This is what happens when a glass artist opens a brewery. We are the only place in the world where you can drink beer made in-house, out of glassware made in-house, and watch everything being produced!
