Naples (NAP) or Rome (FCO). Naples is the closest airport to Sorrento. Delta will be adding a direct to Naples from Atlanta in Summer 2025 - flights will be added at the end of May 2025. Once you arrive in Naples, you can take a private transfer by car, the train, or the ferry to Sorrento. The car ride is about 1.5 hours from Naples to Sorrento. Rome is the next closest international airport with the most amounts of flights. There is a train station in the Rome Airport that has a direct line to Naples. Please note the departures are spread out throughout the day. If there is not a direct to Naples in your window of arrival there are plenty of trains to the Main Roma Terminal, where you can do a transfer on a train to Naples. Overall travel from Rome to Naples is ~2 hours. Please note that you will have to board your luggage on and off the train.
Private Transfer/Taxi: This is the easiest option if you don't want to handle hauling bags around the train stations. Taxi options are listed in the travel recommendation page. Train: There are plenty of train options to get from Rome or Naples to Sorrento. Naples to Sorento - the train is about a 2hr ride. The train is similar to a subway, but, it is a very budget friendly option. Note that if you have large bags, you will have to get them on and off the train yourself. If your bags do not fit in the seating area, you may have to stand. Once you reach the Sorrento train station you can take a taxi (about 35 euros) to your hotel. Rome to Naples: Italia Rail is Italy's high speed rail system. The cabins are spacious and there are economy, business, and first class options. There is a train station in the Rome Airport that has a direct line to Naples- but they are spread out throughout the day. If there is not a direct to Naples in your window of arrival- you will transfer in the Main Roma Station. The train from Rome to Naples is ~2 hours. If you chose to take a train from Naples to Sorrento, you will transfer in the same train station but in a different terminal as described above in the Naples to Sorrento section. Our recommendation is to take a taxi or private transfer into Sorrento, it’s roughly an hour and half commute by car. Ferry (Naples to Sorrento Only)- There is a ferry into Sorrento from Naples. You can bring luggage onto the ferry. The ferry will drop you off at the Sorrento marina where you can take a taxi to your hotel. We also recommend if you are staying a few days that you take a day trip. Some of the places we recommend (travel is 30-1 hour via ferry from Sorrento to destinations) to Positano, Capri and Ravello (if you take the ferry here, you will go to the Amalfi Port).
