After some back and forth, we found a time to meet at a restaurant when we both lived in Jacksonville. Caroline arrived first, eager to meet this handsome guy in person. As is true today, he is a man of few words! So Caroline did most of the talking, thinking this guy isn't interested but the night must go on. The deal was really sealed with the follow up quiche invitation-the way to a man's heart, and here we are 5+ years later!
We planned a typical day out at the lake, an impromptu decision the night before with our friends Kat, Blake, and their children. Caroline was out on a water float with the kids, the kids were getting whiney and ready for snacks. Jeremy told Kat to "get ready for videos, I am going to propose." Diving into the water with a dry sack on his wrist, he came up through the center of the float, treading water, working to get the bag off his wrist. Caroline thought Jeremy was surprising the kids... and was taken back when a box opened with a big engagement ring! She asked if Jeremy was serious and grabbed the ring before he could change his mind. The kids squealed with excitement. It was very unexpected, and we are lucky Caroline did not drop the ring in the lake in shock. She did however have to ask Kat which hand the ring should be on. We wouldn't change anything about that special day- it was wet, messy, spontaneous, shared with friends....and absolutely perfect.
