We met in our first year of college at Samford University in the fall of 2013. My sorority big sister, Ellen Hart neé Williams, insisted I HAD to meet her then boyfriend's (now husband) fraternity little brother. Henry attended fall semi-formal with my best friend, Aly, and I boldly strode up to him and introduced myself. Henry didn't say much in reply, and I immediately told Ellen that there was no chemistry. Fast forward a bit to Christmas break, and Henry reached out to me and we became fast friends. After many texts and group hangouts, and all of his friends telling me he really liked me- he asked me on our first date to Mama G’s!

After several false alarms, I had decided that Henry wouldn't be proposing any time soon and I should just enjoy our planned date at Arrington Vineyards without any pressure. At the very end of the wine tasting on our way to the car, Henry said we should get this camera man to take our photo. I didn't want to interrupt a stranger's vineyard trip and kept insisting that we didn't know him, and should leave him alone. The more I insisted, the more Henry pulled me towards the camera man. It turns out that Henry did know him- it was his relative Craig he had hired to take photos. I eventually caught on to what was happening and Henry got on one knee, and asked me to be his wife. I said yes after making him promise this was real and not a dream! Henry then surprised me by telling me that we had dinner reservations, and my mom had come in from Texas to celebrate with us!
