Neither of us actually remember the exact date we met or what our first conversation even was. But Clay remembers every detail of the cute little girl he let pull him around the playground by his ears. And Caroline remembers the adorable little boy she didn't know how to act around. This was in second grade. Now, we tease each other about all of our embarrassing memories from our childhoods.
While I've been going to St. Scholastica, it has been a tradition for Clay and I to go to the Bentleyville Tour of Lights. This year, there were hearts framing the famous Lift Bridge. I REALLY wanted pictures here, but I got something more instead. We took our picture and then Clay said "There's just one more thing I wanna do here." and got down on one knee. I said "YES!" before he even finished his question.
....it'll be fun they said! And, to be quite honest, it was! On June 13th, we were lucky enough to share our wedding with a small number of family and friends (thank you again, Tom & Amy Jo for hosting!). With our parents and wedding party playing the roles of Caterer, DJ, Makeup/Hair artists, Videographer, and so much more, we were able to have what felt like the most normal wedding day. As much as we were disappointed that we had to change plans, it really was a blessing in disguise. Not only did we get to have a small intimate wedding, but we also get a large reception to share with every person that is special to us! It's the best of both worlds, truly.
