If you are traveling from the U.S. you will most likely fly into Adolfo Suarez International Airport (MAD) located in Madrid. Your flight will arrive in Terminal T4 where you can expect to go through customs to enter Spain and the E.U. This process can take up to 1 hour depending on when your flight arrives. Once you have cleared customs and collected your baggage you will need to head to the commuter (Cercanias) train station located on the ground level terminal T4. Use the ticket vending machines to purchase a ticket to the Madrid Chamartín Clara Campoamor (Chamartín) train station. Once in Chamartín you will be able to take a high-speed rail (AVE, Avant, Alvia) operated by Renfe to Segovia Giomar train station (approximately a 25-minute ride). We strongly recommend you pre-purchase your Renfe tickets prior to your arrival to ensure availability. Tickets can be purchased through the Renfe website: https://www.renfe.com/es/es or through their App. When purchasing your tickets you will have the option of purchasing a round trip with reservations to your return train to Madrid.
Most places accept card, but we recommend bringing cash in 10€ bills or less for cabs and busses. When paying with card, you should never hand off your card to an “employee”. Legitimate businesses will have you use the card reader yourself (at the table if at a restaurant)
