We are getting married!

We had gone to school together since middle school, but did not talk to each other until high school drawing class in 2007. We sat next to each other, and after half a year of talking and flirting in class Alex finally got up the courage to ask me out! We started dating just in time to go to junior year prom together, and continued dating through the end of high school. We walked together at graduation, which now seems to be a foreshadowing of walking down the aisle on our wedding day. After leaving to go to a school that was 3 hours away we struggled to stay in touch the first semester, but after Christmas that first year away we started to really communicate with each other as we had never before. Then after a summer spent getting to know each other more as adults that were choosing their own paths I went back for my second year of school. Alex finally came to visit me, and start getting to know Grand Rapids. After another year spent 3 hours apart, Alex moved to Grand Rapids to be near me. We found an apartment together, I graduated from Grand Valley, and Alex found a job that he has grown in. After 4 jobs, 4 vacations, and many more milestones Alex proposed in Chicago at the Chicago Institute of Art. There are few places that I love as much as the impressionist gallery of that art museum, which is also where our first vacation as a couple was. It has been over 10 years of growing together, and bringing out the best in each other. Here's to many more years of growing and becoming better together.
