Question

What is the Traditional Latin Mass?

Answer

The Latin Rite is one of the oldest forms of the Catholic Mass. The liturgy is spoken in Latin, while the Gospel and sermon is in English. The wedding ceremony will take place before the mass, and we will say the vows out loud in English. As Catholics, we believe that during the Mass we receive the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ. When you enter the church, He is present on the altar. Please be respectful and quiet upon entering the church. If you are not Catholic, are not in good standing with the Church, or have not regularly attended mass on Sundays, please do not receive the Eucharist. Feel free to stay in your seat during communion. When receiving communion, please kneel down at the altar rails. There is no need to respond to the priest with "Amen" because he says it for you! Just open your mouth when he stands in front of you. We both have a special connection and devotion to the TLM because it helped us grow deeper in our faith and in our relationship with each other. We have attended Saint Rose since freshmen year when we fell in love with the architecture and parish immediately.

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

Ladies! Floor-length dresses in a spring color pallete. The more ruffles, feathers, and textures the better! As it is a Traditional Latin Mass, veiling is encouraged but optional. If you do not have a veil the church provides some you may borrow. Gentlemen! Wear your best suit, bonus points if you match the color pallete of the ladies. If you can't, a colorful or floral tie will do the trick. In short, attire for the day is black tie optional, inspired by elevated garden party elegance. Spring colors such as blues, greens, pinks, and yellows are encouraged. For mass, we kindly ask guests to dress modestly.

Question

How far apart is the reception venue from St. Rose?

Answer

We recommend planning for a 35 minute commute. There will be about an hour between the end of our ceremony and cocktail hour. Feel free to mingle outside the church or visit one of the parks closer to the venue listed under "Things to Do" before heading over.
