I remember walking into math class the first day of my freshman year of college and scanning the room looking for the perfect seat. I remember seeing someone sitting there, looking so wonderfully different from everyone else who lived in Northern Virginia: tattoos, plugs, Dickies shorts, flannel, tube socks, and Vans, 'nuff said, don't you think? Skyler was someone I knew I had to be friends with, so I did what any normal person would do, and sat next to him so I could ask him a million questions. Days turned into weeks and weeks into months of us staying late at school just to talk about life. After a few weeks of talking, we had become best friends. We were the type of friends that could tell each other anything with no judgment. Fast forward several years. We were both in different places in our lives and realized that we wanted to be there to support each other, but in a different way. It's funny when you think how your soulmate was standing in front of you the whole time, but you didn't even realize it. We're a simple couple you see, spending the weekend watching reruns of The Office, making breakfast for dinner, and trying a different IPA when we can. We love each other unconditionally, and yes, sometimes we've had to realize that we aren't always individually right, but Skyler's taught me that love is a choice and from here on out, we choose to love each other every day as friends, companions, and as husband and wife.
