Noah and Tori both worked on the Disney Magic for the summer. Noah sent Tori a direct message on Instagram asking about how she got to a Greek Island. Fortunately for Noah, Tori was isolated due to covid, meaning she was bored and lonely so she felt more inclined to actually answer. After denying Noah 2-3 times and much convincing from her friends Tori agreed to get pizza with Noah in Italy in a town neither can spell or pronounce correctly. After the pizza date they began doing everything together including their first 4 dates in 4 different countries (Italy, Greece, Spain, France)
Before Noah was coming to see me on the Disney Dream Cruise Ship (where I was currently working) he and I had talked about proposals and rings and what we each wanted. A couple of days before he was coming to sail he and I had a long conversation about wanting to have enough money to prepare for the future, so I thought that a proposal wasn't going to happen. Fast forward to about a week into Noah's vacation on the ship - the ship was ported in Cherbourg, France and it was a Sunday, so everything was closed. Luckily, one of my friends had a friend that was willing to rent a car and drive all of us, Noah, my friends Nikki and Channa, and me to go to Mont St. Michael, which happens to be what Rapunzel's kingdom is based off of. When we arrived at Mont St. Michael we got out of the car and got on a small bus that would drop us off closer to the location. While on the bus we were all standing around talking and I started taking things out of Noah's pockets. Noah would say that I was looking for a ring, but as I stated before I didn't think anything was happening I was just curious in what he was keeping in his pockets because they were very full. Once we got off the bus we went to take pictures down by the beach area, and then we began walking up to the top of the abbey. As we are walking along my friend Nikki kept asking to hold my bag, or my jacket, and I kept telling her no. We got almost to where the abbey stair begin when Channa says that she knows a great place to take a pretty picture of the top of the abbey. So we start walking around to the side, which I kept saying was counter productive because we were walking back down and away from where we needed to go to enter the abbey. As we walk along the side Channa starts talking about wanting to make an artsy video, which I later learned was the key word for its about to happen. However, then a garbage walks through the video, then on try number two 3 men with automatic rifles walk through, finally on the third try Noah looks at me and says, "Hey I have a question for you?" Me, expecting his question to be a smart alike remark gives a bit of attitude and says, "Yeah?". Then Noah starts to go down on his knee, but I don't see the ring and I think he is trying to play a joke on me, so I loudly in my annoyed voice say, "Why?", to which then I do see the ring and I get really excited, but naturally a little anxious, so then when he asks, "Will you marry me?" I say "Are you sure?". After, we took some pictures and then walked to the top of the abbey, took in the view, took more pictures before heading back down and to the car. The day wouldn't have been complete without some rain, so lucky for us it completely down poured as we walked back to the bus, but we were all having a great day so no one really cared that we were completely soaked.
My first thoughts began in Toronto, Canada. Her parents and I went to visit her while she was training for her Europe contract. Tori is the person to only bring up things and speak about topics she is confident and expecting to happen. It was a quick two day trip but after walking the city and hearing Tori bring up a few times marriage, I came a little more confident in a choice I wanted to make. When we got home from Canada, her roommate, Nikki, and I texted on Instagram about how Tori wanted me to propose at some point. Lucky for me, Nikki's mom worked in the diamond industry. I was going to see Tori in July, so I spoke to her parents about the idea of proposing and they were happy about the idea. I proceeded to work with Nikki and her mom to find a ring and eventually came to the right one. Fast forwarding to July when I left for Barcelona, I checked my backpack about 10 times before I left to make sure I had it, and about another 35 times from the time I left until I got to the cruise ship. I met up with Tori and her friends at Dunkin' Donuts in Barcelona with the ring on me and her having zero clue. We got on the ship later that day and while Tori was working, I met Nikki and Channa to hand the ring over and speak about the day we would do it. Nikki hid it in their room, in the last place Tori would look...The underwear drawer. Fun for me, we had to hold the secret for 8 days because I was not proposing until the second cruise and the first one was a week long. We are now at the day of and I was nervous we wouldn't make it to Mont St Michel because one it was a Sunday and EVERYTHING is closed on Sunday's in France and if they would have got the right amount of time off. Nikki and Channa were huge help, with Nikki speaking to their manager to get the time off, and Channa knowing people in France to drive us. We got in the car with Channa's friends and embarked on a 2 hour drive. I was not that nervous but Tori was hangry (which is never good with her) so she was a little on edge. She took a nap in the car and after that seemed a bit better. We arrived at our destination and I knew Nikki had the ring. We walked up to Mont St. Michel, which was stunning in its own right. Channa distracted Tori by taking pictures of her, while Nikki gave me the ring like we were dealing drugs to each other. That is when it felt like someone kicked me in my stomach because I was so nervous. We entered the gates and started walking around, we followed Channa because she knew of a good spot. Once we got there, I waited for Channa to say "I am going to take my video now" (she takes a video everywhere it seems). Once she said that of course the janitor walked by and then an officer with an automatic rifle which was not the most romantic two things to have. Once they were gone, it was my time to shine. When I got down she thought I was kidding and said "why?!" and "are you sure?!". It was a moment that summed up our silly and special relationship. We had a great rest of the day exploring. When we got back to the ship, everyone saw that we posted on Instagram, so we got a lot of thank yous and we kept comparing who had more likes on our posts...she won!
