When David first walked into Molly's 8th grade math class, it was love at first sight. At least for her. It seems like middle schoolers have a new crush every week, but Molly knew there was something special about David. As the year progressed our friendship grew. From awkward introductions to brief moments of laughter before the bell, we grew closer and closer, but were never anything more than friends. Flash forward 2 years, and we're sophomores in high school eating lunch together everyday (David used to always pack an extra peppermint patty to give Molly, a tradition he kept for all 4 years of school). Molly wanted nothing more than for David to ask her to homecoming, but David was shy and never did. At homecoming, Molly "took matters into her own hands" and we spent the rest of the night dancing together. We had our first date the following weekend and were "officially boyfriend and girlfriend" by November.
High school was a whirlwind of sports games, movie nights and dances like Homecoming and Prom. To this day, we are both so grateful to share these precious memories of youth with one another. However, being high school sweethearts wasn't always easy. There were surgeries, concussions and summer spent thousands of miles apart. But through it all, we grew in love, friendship and dedication. Our greatest hurdle came in 2017, when we knew we would have to separate for college. Thank god for technology which kept us connected through texts, phone calls, and plenty of FaceTime dates. Each break meant spending 8+ hours in the car for anywhere from 1-10 days together. But it was always worth it to see that wonderful smile in person and wrap each other in a big hug.
After 7 years, their time spent in a long distance relationship finally ended when David completed his Doctorate in Physical Therapy. He moved in with Molly right at the start of the pandemic and within a month, they were atop a beautiful mountain with David on one knee asking Molly to be his wife. The following months were filled with wedding planning and re-planning, applying for residency and new jobs, graduating Medical School and finally making a new home in Pittsburgh. Despite all the craziness of 2020 and 2021, they remain so grateful to simply be together at last. So there it is. The full story from middle schoolers with a silly crush, to head over heels high school sweet hearts, to star crossed lovers trapped in long distance and finally, a happy family together at last. We are so grateful for the all the memories we have shared, the growth we have experienced both separately and together and the years that we have ahead of us. We look forward to celebrating this milestone in our life with each and every one of you!
