We have known each other through Ryan Dann for many years. I am cousins with Ryan and Jay has been friends with him since school. When I would come up north to visit family, Jason was often hanging out with Ryan and I would see him from time to time. Years went by and on March 15th Jay reached out to me to see how life was going. That messaged turned into us having someone to talk to at night. Weeks later we decided to hang out and have a few drinks. On March 27th, 2018 while Jay was house sitting at the Crows Nest we made a date to go grab a few drinks. We started at the Crows Nest, went to the Keyhole, checked out the blue ice by The Mackinac Bridge, then went to Jays rental house to check on it in Carp Lake, did a little star gazing on the lake, then headed back to the Crows Nest for a night cap.
Jay and I decided after almost 4 years that we were going to take the next step. After an unexpected day off of work for Jay we spent the day snowshoeing, had lunch, dinner and drinks, and went ring shopping together. Our favorite thing to do together is find new places to explore and fun places to eat. I had one request for the actual proposal. I did not want fancy, or anything over the top, or for it to be a surprise. I just wanted the kids to be included! I wanted Ella, Derrick, and Abram to feel included through the entire process leading up to the big day. We rented a Airbnb in Cheboygan for the big weekend. On February 13th, 2022 we spent the entire day together. We took the kids to lunch at The Moose Jaw, a drive down Tunnel of Trees, then to Northern Lights Recreation (where the kids first met), then headed back to Cheboygan. At sunset, over looking Lake Huron from Cheboygan Beach, Jay asked me to marry him! With the approval of the kids I excitedly said "YES!"
