Here's a glimpse of our decade-long journey together!
It was the start of junior year in physics class. She was the new student sitting in the front of the classroom while he was the laid back guy in the back corner. Not surprising, we didn't interact much then. However through being one of the few IB diploma students to overlapping friend groups to being on the badminton team and symphonic orchestra together, we started getting to know each other in her first year in Shanghai!
The last year of high school flew by. Then we both graduated from USC. We stayed in Los Angeles for the first year until she had to move to Toronto for work. That's when we started making our way to the East coast. He moved to New York to be closer to her and started a new job, while she spent a year in Toronto before going to business school at Wharton. In these 10 years, we've grown together and we've grown individually. After countless weekend trips to Toronto and getting to know Penn Station just a bit too well, we're excited this long distance has finally come to an end and we're both happily living in New York!
It was a long time coming. She planned the two week vacation just a week before leaving so didn't think it would happen then. He, on the other hand, was secretly working hard behind the scenes. Starting in the Amalfi Coast, we drove our way up north to Milan before heading to the Maldives. He had intended to propose multiple times throughout Italy (since day 1) but something always came up - timing, weather, scheduling... you name it. After 1.5 weeks of rehashing plan B...C...D... while receiving constant emails asking "is it done?!," he finally popped the question on our last night in the Maldives! Now, it's finally vacation time...
We love many things - a relaxing day in, a comfortable vacation, an action-packed road trip, and (among many others) good food! We fell in love with the Blue Hill at Stone Barns venue the second we saw it, and here's why we love it: Getting there: Having spent 5 years in Los Angeles, we love exploring new places on a nice road trip. Getting to Blue Hill reminds us of the many road trips we've done together and transports us to a relaxing destination outside of the hustle and bustle of Manhattan. The venue: We love how this venue feels like a destination even though it's just a short ride from Manhattan. It has the perfect balance of feeling casual (it is a barn after all) but at the same time elegant and homey. It's our one night to be fancy, but we also want it to be comfortable and feel like home! The food: There's no better place to share our love of food. Many know this as one of the best restaurants in the world. Some may have heard about Chef Dan Barber's passion and dedication to food - he's done extensive research on farming methods to produce the absolute best and most flavorful ingredients. We hope you'll enjoy the food and the thought behind everything prepared for us that day! Blue Hill at Stone Barns encompasses all the things we love and we can't wait to share that with you at our wedding!
