We have known of each other since we were kids in church, but it was not until years later that God began to bring our lives together. When Carmen’s family moved to Chetumal, she had come back for our bootcamp, and that is when Matthew really noticed her. He tried to talk to her, but nerves made it difficult, and Carmen never imagined that those small moments would matter one day. As time passed, Matthew began praying about her, seeking God’s direction while she was away on the mission field. He waited patiently, trusting that if it was meant to be, God would open the door. In 2024, Carmen’s family moved back to McAllen, and everything finally aligned. A simple friendship grew naturally and easily, and before long it became something deeper. On January 26, 2025, they began talking officially. On May 3, Matthew asked her to be his girlfriend. And on August 5, he asked her to marry him. Now we are getting married on April 26, 2026. Every season, every distance, and every prayer led us here. We give Jesus Christ all the glory for writing a story more beautiful than anything we could have planned.
