Things to Do

The Wedding Website of Carmen Kloer and Jack Schrader
The reason that our wedding is the first weekend of October centers around the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta! It's an annual festival in NM that gathers people for a mass ascension of hot air balloons. It's really special, and fun for all ages, but the trade off is that everything is a bit pricer (still cheaper than most US cities) with more traffic than normal. Possible plan for you: Attend the Balloon Glow Sunday 10/5/2025 at 6:30pm (there is a Park & Ride option, which will save you so much frustration from sitting in traffic) and then go to the Balloon Launch 10/6/2025, if you can leave later Monday. Throughout the week of 10/6/2025 there will be daily Balloon Launches. The Special Shapes Rodeo is usually on the Thursday. FYI you have to get up VERY EARLY, but that's part of the magic. Specific to Santa Fe things are here! For overall recommendations, here is a google maps list for all NM things! https://maps.app.goo.gl/nw9DdMNN14fVeMrE8

In the fall, the aspens turn this brilliant yellow along the Santa Fe Mountains, so that's something not to miss if you can! Honestly, you don't even need to hike, just take the drive to the ski basin. Also there's just lots of nature to explore!
