Katie is Carmen's younger sister, even though she often gets mistaken for being older. She has literally taught Carmen everything about sharing, patience, kindness, grace, and forgiveness (you know, sister stuff). Even though the two were so privileged as to have their own bedrooms as kids, they were (and are) so close that they preferred to haul sleeping bags to the others' room just so they wouldn't have to sleep separately every night. The two sisters had each others' backs when it came to hiding stuff from their parents as teens (sorry mom). Katie was the one who helped sneakily plan Harry's surprise engagement to Carmen during their magical sister-sister Greece vacation. Katie's spirit is goofy and her heart so big. Katie is more than a sister to Carmen, but truly a best friend!
Jason Yun

Jason is a man of exquisite taste. With a bag Hot Cheetos, a Nintendo Switch, and 12 hours of free time, Jason can keep himself extremely occupied. More than that, he's got your back 110% of the time, he will always want the best for you, and he's just an overall amazing dude. Ask him about crazy chemistry things - he'll blow your mind with some cool terminology.
Janae Stewart

Janae and Carmen met as young and eager incoming college freshmen on a Facebook page where people were looking for roommates. Janae almost agreed to be roommates with a different person, but as fate (and poor internet connection) would have it, she ended up agreeing to room with Carmen. From there, a lifelong best friendship was to be formed! After a couple of awkward "hello" hugs, the two joined DCF (Davis Christian Fellowship) together and discovered the true meaning of community and friendship. Janae became Carmen's go-to person when she needed to drag someone to her one-on-one hang outs with Harry so he would understand that he was in the "friendzone". But soon thereafter, she acclaimed the title of their designated "third wheel" and became one of their biggest cheerleaders!
Nathan Suh

Roommate. Fellow anarchist. Man of many talents. Nathan can play piano, guitar, drums in one hour and make you laugh your socks off in the next. I've known this guy for the longest time and he's been a guy that's been faithful in walking through life with me through thick and thin. Ask him about his favorite words in Chinese.
Phoebe Tai

Phoebe met Harry first through their home church in middle school. Fast forward to college, Phoebe introduced herself to Carmen over a bowl of guacamole and the 2 have become best buds ever since. Phoebe would be the only one to bring her textbooks/homework to social events with Carmen (embarrassingly nerdy I know) because they were always worried about studying. But don't worry, together they learned to prioritize studying just a bit less . Since then the two have traveled, danced, baked wax paper on accident, and more! Phoebe has encouraged Carmen through her roughest moments with her gentle love and wisdom. Phoebe's love has been such an important source of encouragement in Carmen & Harry's relationship and they would not be here today without it!
Guilherme Marinho

If you need a one-man party - there's no one better to bring the ruckus than Mr. Marinho. Guilherme is a joy to be around and he infects those that are near him with an undeniable energy. He's humble but confident, has the voice of an angel, and has some amazing moves on the dance floor. Ladies, don't miss your shot with this one!! Ask him about Brazilian country music (it's a thing!)

Crystal met Harry first as a freshman at UC Davis and hung around in the same circle. She *creepily* added Carmen on Facebook as a joke - to tease Harry - when there were rumors floating around about Harry spending lots of time with a "cute girl". When Carmen met all of Harry's friends, Crystal was the one sweet soul that went out of her way to make Carmen feel comfortable amidst a group of unfamiliar people. Now, Carmen has Harry to thank for one of her best friends! Crystal is always the first to call with loving encouragements when Carmen is feeling down, has taught Carmen to be more spontaneous, and is full of laughs and sunshine. She's been there from teasing Harry about his new crush to now walking beside the couple in their wedding!
Bryan Zhao

BZ - a gentleman and a scholar. Bryan truly embodies both of those words to the ultimate degree. Having finished his Master's degree at Carnegie Mellon in 1 year (wow!), he's very quick to pursue anything that he's passionate about. That definitely includes the people he has around him, he's always the guy you go to that can speak truth in your life (which is definitely much needed). Make sure you talk his head off about big data, semi-supervised learning, and predictive machine biomechatronics (that last one is definitely made up).
Rachel Nghe

Rachel is Carmen's childhood best friend. She's been there through every crush, every relationship, and every bit of boy drama from 4th grade until now. She has given Carmen countless advice from fashion to career to relationships. Those around Rachel will all nod in agreement when I say that she makes those around her feel so taken care of. They played basketball together, built learning materials for kids in Nicaragua together, and listened patiently to Carmen's debate on "should I date Harry or not" in the beginning. What's funny is now Rachel and Harry are actually working at the same company in San Francisco! Rachel has looked out for Harry since even before he started working at the same company with multiple coffee chats and encouragements. We are so lucky to know her care & warmth!
Wei Yan

Wei Yan, you'll never have a boring time with him at your side. I remember meeting him at a Korean BBQ hosted by a Christian fellowship that both of us ending up NOT joining (LOL). We quickly started having regular jam sessions where we would make the craziest guitar faces for hours. Wei is a man of spontaneity, of vulnerability, and he truly cares about what you care about. Ask him about cameras and Miatas!
Serena Chew

Serena met both Carmen and Harry during DCF Welcome Week events. Sporting her navy blue "Go Aggies" UC Davis t-shirt, Serena started chatting with Carmen at the last event of the week. The two set up weekly hang outs (which is what happens when you put two planners together) and a fruitful friendship blossomed. Carmen remembered thinking to herself "this friendship is special", when she realized that she always walked away from conversations with Serena eager to chase after Jesus and to love other people with honor. Together they have discovered that they are both horrible liars (after trying to sneak Carmen into Serena's study abroad housing in London and getting caught - whoops). Serena's love and support for the couple individually and together as a couple has been invaluable!
Jordan Leung

Jordan Justin Leung aka JJ. He's amazingly friendly with everyone around him and has a heart of gold that all can see. Whenever you want to have someone to just hang out with for hours on end, Jordan is your go to guy. He's got an incredibly dorky sense of humor, a voice that is better than he realizes, and he's very fast (but not faster than me). Ask him about pickles!
