How We Met: It all started at the FGCU dorms. Carmalita was visiting one of Tino's dormmates, completely unaware that fate was about to step in. Drawn to the soft glow of galaxy lights spilling into the hallway, she wandered into Tino's open door. There he was, quietly working on his art. Without hesitation, Carmalita jumped onto his bed, wrapped herself in a throw blanket, and cheerfully asked, “What are you doing?” Tino, caught off guard by the confident and beautiful stranger, shyly replied, “I’m just working on some art. Who are you?” With a warm smile, she answered, “I’m Carmalita. And you?” “I’m Tino. Nice to meet you,” he said, trying to hide how stunned he was. Little did Carmalita know, this was the exact moment Tino fell in love. Although she initially left to hang out with his dormmate, Carmalita found herself making excuses to visit more often, hoping to see Tino again. But Tino, often aloof and rarely around, was unintentionally playing hard to get. Determined, Carmalita tracked him down on Facebook. She sent him a friend request, and before long, they were chatting late into the night—sharing dreams, life goals, and everything in between. Unbeknownst to Tino, Carmalita was quietly making sure he met her standards. Their conversations stretched into the early hours, and by 3 a.m., they had planned their first date. With some help from his sister, Tino arranged a romantic beach picnic. To his surprise, the beach turned out to be one of Carmalita’s favorite places. From that first magical date to getting engaged, their love story blossomed. Over the past decade, Carmalita and Tino have shared countless adventures. They bought an old house, they're slowly renovating it, and even rescued their dog, Calvin, from Miami. Now, as they plan to expand their family, they’re looking for more space to create new memories and continue their beautiful journey together.
