Carlyn’s version: We were both out with friends at the BOB downtown Grand Rapids. I was playing ping pong beating so many people. Chase and I made eye contact, and I told him he was up. Loser buys the winner a drink. That one drink turned into 5 hours of us sitting and talking and laughing the whole night. Ever since that night, I knew this was going to be a different relationship for me. I do not let boys into my life easily! His first test for me was meeting Ethan and Ashley (maid of honor). It was Valentine’s Day and there was no table for 2 so we went on a double date. Once they gave approval, he could meet my parents. He met my parents a couple weeks later. After that, we did all couple things and became more and more a part of each other's lives - the small things and the big things. I knew from about date 5 or 6 he was the one for me. Chase’s version: I was at the BOB with coworkers, and I saw this cute girl playing ping pong. So, I bet her drinks if I lost. One thing led to another, and I was out $14 on a mule. That’s where I knew this one was different. We started dating shortly after that night and went through the normal couple rites of passage; meeting the friends, family, and becoming more a part of each other’s lives. It’s funny because she can pick down to the minute, she knew I was the one, but with me it was little moments that all built up into making that decision. From the small things like laughing about something we did to the bigger things that happen in our lives. I found myself realizing that this girl is the only person I wanted or needed, and I can’t imagine spending one second without her by my side.
