St John Island Info

St. John, the smallest and most idyllic of the three United States Virgin Islands, is best known for its many white sand beaches, turquoise bays abounding in colorful corals & rainbows of tropical fish and endless vistas of green velvet hills. Only nine miles long & three miles wide, two thirds of the island is the Virgin Islands National Park, so its spectacular beaches and untouched forests will remain that way for generations to come. Getting here: To get to St. John, you will need to fly in to St. Thomas (STT). Upon arrival to St. Thomas, you will take a taxi to the Red Hook Ferry Terminal. Approximate cost for the taxi is $15-$20 per person, depending on luggage. The ferry leaves every hour on the hour from Red Hook to St. John from 6 am until midnight. Ferry fare is $8.15 per person and $4 per bag, each way.

Getting Around

Driving on the left: The first major thing that first time visitors to St. John notice is that the left side of the road is actually the “right” side of the road! When driving, remember to keep left at all times. If you feel comfortable and will be on the island for several days we recommend renting a car with one of the local car rental companies on St John. Getting Around: If you don’t want to rent your own vehicle have no fear, taxis are readily available on St. John. They will take you to Cruz Bay, Coral Bay or any of the beaches along the way. The information book at your hotel or villa should provide taxi driver suggestions. Here are a few more: Chico 340-690-6507 Piper340-344-4234
