Matt and Carly have known of each other since high school but were never more than acquaintances. (If you’re curious, check out the gallery for their very first photo together!) Fun fact: Matt was actually Carly’s high school crush, though at the time they were just passing by in different circles. Their paths crossed again a couple years later during Spring Break in Cabo (Matt was at Cal Poly and Carly at UCSB), and they ended up spending the day partying with a group of friends at the Mango Deck. After that trip, their lives went separate ways. Years later, Carly was out jogging with Spot when Matt happened to drive by. Instead of just waving, he turned his truck around at the end of the street, pulled up next to her, and asked if she’d like to go to dinner later that week. From that moment on, their story really began. Matt proposed in Tahoe, the same place where they officially started dating, making it the perfect spot for this next chapter.

Maverick joined the family shortly after Matt and Carly got engaged—after years of dreaming about bringing a pup into their lives. He’s their beloved fur baby and the heart of their DINKWAD lifestyle. Handsome, smart, playful, and always hungry, Maverick loves swimming and cuddling up with his family whenever he can.
