Carly had just moved to Wake Forest after finishing graduate school at App State (little did Keith and Carly know, they were there at the same time!) and was looking to make some friends. Carly's co-worker invited her to a pregame at her apartment with some friends, one of them being Keith. The night led to going out in Raleigh where Keith and Carly continued connecting. After Keith displayed extreme skills in a ring toss game at a local bar you could say Carly was hooked (get it? Hooked, like the ring toss game). Keith and Carly went on their first date a week after meeting for the first time and the rest is history (get it? because Keith is a history teacher). A year and a half later we are engaged and planning our future.
Proposing to Carly became difficult as the COVID-19 pandemic hit and stay at home orders were issued one day after picking out a ring. This proved to be the perfect way to throw off the scent of when Keith would actually pop the question. He had explained to Carly that due to the virus, the ring would not be ready until the end of July and maybe even into August. In all actuality Keith had picked up the ring in the middle of June and just had to find the right way to ask. He asked Carly early in the week to go on a picnic with him. She was all for it, but had no clue what was in store. Keith had been secretly planning to propose during the picnic. However, the surprise wasn't over just yet! He had also planned to have a party at his parents house, and invited friends and family from all over to come and celebrate. Once they got to the picnic spot, Keith dropped to a knee, presented the ring to Carly, and asked her to marry him. Overwhelmed with joy, Keith and Carly spent the entire time talking about how excited she was and how secretive Keith had to be with all the planning. Following the picnic, Keith and Carly wanted to show off the ring to Keith's parents and when they opened the door they were showered with congratulations and cheers from all their friends and family!
