You had me at Shalom...

How we met is a tale as old as time; just kidding…we met online!

Carly’s Version: In December 2019, I was swiping on bumble and saw Justin’s profile and thought “He looks like a nice Jewish guy.” We matched and I messaged him “Shalom” with a waving hand emoji. Poetic, right? He messaged back and quickly asked me out. Our first date was at both of our favorite local place, Chelsea’s Kitchen for brunch. I may have made fun of Justin’s meal choice of a salad and martini to his face and later to my family, but my father defended Justin's choices. After what was an “ok” first date, Justin said he would like to take me out again and I agreed. It took him three weeks to ask me out again, which I may have given him a hard time about. This time we closed down the restaurant after a five hour date. Taking me to my car, Justin said that he would do absolutely anything to see me again, and as they say, the rest was history! Justin’s Version: After a long day of work in December 2019, I was delighted to see I had a message on my phone from a very cute girl named Carly. She seemed awesome based on her profile, so I messaged her immediately and asked her out. She played hard to get and called all of the shots for our first date. Carly decided we would go to Chelsea’s Kitchen for brunch and only at a specific time and for a certain period of time, like she was a politician with an impossible schedule to get on. The first date was just OK -- she made fun of my order (not in a flirty way), which hurt my feelings, and she dominated the conversation. Despite the experience, I had this weird feeling there was something very special going on between us so I asked her out again. Three weeks later we went to one of our favorite restaurants. She took my breath away when she walked in, ordered me a martini when we sat down (how did she read my mind?), and during the next five hours I started to fall in love with her. Sadly, the staff kicked us out of the restaurant because they were closing and our night ended. But it was really just the beginning.
